Shifting Lands
Shifting Lands is a cozy and puzzly tile-laying kingdom builder.
Watch as your realm rises from the ocean, shape the patchwork-like landscape, forming lush forests, vast plains, and golden fields and make the most of your ever-shifting land.
- Erase blocks of tiles from a cascading selection of terrains, making them part of your kingdom map.
- Strategically place tiles to create high-scoring areas.
Progress through 5 levels, each introducing new terrains, mechanics, and challenges. And in the end, a special surprise awaits—a bonus reward that carries over into future runs!
This game was created for Godot Wild Jam #78, inspired by the theme "Erase." While we only barely incorporated it, the idea sparked the creation of this small yet charming puzzle adventure.
How did your kingdom fare? Share your score and compare your best runs with other players!
We’d love to hear from you.

nice to see a new tile placer with such a smart design. this idea can go really far. please make desktop and mobile ports if you can. i'd say you should also sell any new updated versions of this game and leave this here as a demo. despite looking simple the game has unique strategic elements to it which makes it fun, i like it!
i would like to propose an idea to extend the gameplay with a few consumable items:
- to refresh the tile well,
- to choose which shape you want to select,
- to get one more random shape,
- to cut off a part of the current shape, by placing it partially out of bounds
you have a nice small meta-progression with the upgrades, so the consumables can also be there
also would be great if Skip action had an option to remove the selected tiles. sometimes there are multiple identical tiles left as the last turns, and you cannot place any, so you have to skip turns. it can be really bad like wasted 4 tiles. i think it would be better to be able to use one tile to update the well, but not place the tiles at the board. at least once per game, maybe using a consumable too
This game is really fun. I could play it for hours.
Glad to hear that :)
Great concept, how did you manage to create a global high scores system?
Thank you! The local high score is saved in browser's local storage, global high score is saved on a server.
Very neat concept, I like the puzzle/tetris gameplay, confined with a few rules, and lots of bonus or malus additions. I absolutly love the music, very good choice. I also like the sound effects. Much replayability with all those combinations and upgrades, also neat to try to get a spot in the online highscore.
Just for the presentation and first impression, get the wildcard with a bigger resolution. or delete it completly. Or did you do the low quali (pixel optic) on purpose?
Did you make the music by yourselfs?
Probably a well deserved first place!
Congratulations!
Thank you for playing! The low res wild card is definitely not on purpose. Base resolution of the game is 480x270 and the wildcard looks ugly because we had to scale it down to fit and we didn't have enough time to figure out a better solution. We will probably remove it in the next update as you suggest.
Music is from here: https://alkakrab.itch.io/
Kyle J here (high score 1248 at the moment). cptOatmeal suggested this game and i love it. i spent much more of my workday today thinking/playing it than I want to admit. thank you for this gift <3 Weirdly it reminds me of the word game "GUBBINS"
Great work!
this man's goated
Oh, wow. That's a very good score. Will be hard to beat. Congrats!
It makes me really happy to hear that the game brought someone so much joy. :-)
BENJATRON HAS DEVOURED, AND NOW RESTS
Came back to play this one a second time :)
I did find one little bug that always removed my ability to choose what my 1x1 selector would be. It forced me to place it no matter what. Other than that, just an amazing game!
Great to have you back. :-)
Could that "bug" be caused by a special animal reward? Some allow you to place an extra 1x1 tile with a specific terrain. So could it have been an animal effect and not a standard 1x1 tile?
Ohhh I totally got the little sea serpent. Duh :)
Nice little game! Great ideas, I actually have a board game with similar tile-placing mechanics. 😬
Thanks for playing!
Thank you. :-)
I wonder which baord game. Is it Kingdomino? Or Patchwork?
Kingdomino 😉
